1930's Red Glowing Fireballs Over Southern West Virginia

Date: Spring of 1932 or 1933
Time: Evening

Hi Brian, my grandmother lived in rural southern West Virginia near a small town nestled in the Appalachian foothills. There were very few cars in those days so most people walked to and from town or church often for miles along hilly paths or long stretches of isolated dirt roadways night or day.

It was in the spring of around 1932 or 1933 that grandma , who was in her 40's ,had been returning to her home from town which was just a couple miles away. It was near dusk when she found herself on a particularly isolated stretch of road near a hill the locals had dubbed "Water Tank Hill". At the time , she was the only one on the road and as far as she knew the only one who witnessed this event.

"Water Tank Hill" was known apparently then for its "ghost lights". Evidently, at some point in time, these ghostly lights were seen by various people as "red, glowing fireballs" which would zig zag or bob along this hill and adjacent ridges. As mysteriously as they would appear, they would disappear-- then reappear again in cycles.

Grandma had just started down the gentle slope in the road when suddenly something shot out just in front and above her in the sky from a ridge near the "infamous" Water Tank Hill. She said it had so startled her that she actually "froze " in midstep. The next thought in her mind was that she was looking at one of the "ghost lights". Her description of it therefore fit what the others had apparently been seeing during the nights---"red, glowing" or "fireball".

The next second she realized it had to be something other than a "ghost light" and that frightened her even more because she had no explanation at all for what she was seeing. The red object hovered (as I recall , it made no sound ) and she saw "protrusions" from the object. When I asked her just what she meant by that, her reply was 'well, like antennas or legs sticking out from it". It therefore in her mind was "machine", not "ghost" and this defied any concept of any machine she knew about. I asked her if it somehow could've been an airplane, but she shook her head emphatically 'no'.

She went on to say that once she saw these strange protrusions , she ran like "a scared rabbit" the rest of the way home. She didn't know if the object followed her for she was too afraid to look up. Once she got inside the house and bolted the door (a rare thing for one to do in those days, as people often left their doors unlocked all hours) , she wouldn't look out. My grandma was not the person who was easily frightened . But what she saw that spring night unnerved her for sometime.

It's just possible she was the only one who got a good look at the "ghost lights " that made their appearances around this hill.

From her description, I rather think that these lights were more UFO related than will o' wisps or ghost-related. Thank you.

Red Glowing Light With Beam Coming From Object Over Knightswood Glasgow Scotland

Date: March 14th and 20th, 2010
Time: Approx: 11:40 p.m.

Location of Sighting: Knightswood Glasgow.
Number of witnesses: 3
Number of Objects: 1
Shape of Objects: Round and glowing.

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I looked out my window at around 11:40pm on Saturday, 20th, March 2010 and saw what was a round bright red glowing object moving slowly in the sky. It then disappeared. There was a strong red beam of light coming from it and it was making no sound at all. I did not have time to film it, but myself and the people that saw it, had no clue as to what it was it was.

It definitely was not a helicopter or plane, because a plane flew right under it, so I imagine the pilot should have seen it. There was no wind that night either and it was moving from east to west. I still have no idea of what it was, but I know a number of people who have witnessed it over the Glasgow area recently who do not know what it is either.

Brian Vike's Note: This is the second report that we have received on a red/orange colored light that had a beam of light emanating from the object.

Red UFOs Jetting Over Morgantown West Virginia

I was only 7 at the time, but my father and I were in our front yard and witnessed some objects that looked like red fireballs jetting across the horizon in formation in Morgantown, WV at about the same time as the Kecksburg crash. My father was in the military, and a licensed pilot who taught ROTC at WVU at the time. He has always been somewhat of a skeptic and was hesitant to talk about our experience, except wit family.

If anyone asks, however, he will tell them exactly what he saw, and that it definitely was not a meteor, as per the "official" reports.

I often wondered over the years if our sighting had anything to do with the Kecksburg incident. My father is now 80 and his email address is (email address removed) if you want any info from him.

Brian Vike wrote to the person's Father, his reply below:

Dear Mr. Vike:

When my wife, (name removed) and I observed what we believed to be UFO's, while living in Morgantown, I immediately wrote down exactly what we had seen. It is now over 40 years later and I cannot find this written account, although I have looked for it several times.

My recollection is the same as what my daughter wrote you, so I would have nothing to add to your research. Sincerely.

If you have seen anything like this somewhere in the world, would you please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

Glowing Red Ball Of Light Over Woodley Area Of Romsey In Hampshire UK

Date: March 23, 2010
Time: Approx: 11:15 p.m.

Hi, last night, 23rd March 2010 my wife and I saw a strange glowing red ball moving very slowly in the night sky and coming towards us looking from our bedroom window at about 11-15pm. The larger and bright ball seemed to have two smaller, less bight spheres attached to it. There was no sound (definitely not a plane or helicopter - too slow.

The spheres stopped in the direction they were heading after watching for about a minute or two. They then reversed their direction (went back the way they came) at which time the large sphere seemed to lose brightness and reduce in size quite quickly. Only one of the smaller spheres was visible as it retreated. This took a matter of seconds and they were gone. Viewed over Woodley area of Romsey in Hampshire.
